Local prayer events set for Thursday

For the 16th year, residents will gather at the Bulloch County Courthouse on Thursday for the National Day of Prayer.

The community is encouraged to attend.

I urge all of you, no matter your faith, to go to Friendship Baptist Church at 1511 El Rancho Dr., in Sun City Center, on Thursday, May 4, at 1 p.m.to be a part of this prayer.

In honor of the National Day of Prayer, Lee County will hold an observance ceremony at the Courthouse Square at noon today in Opelika.

Following that local pastors will offer prayers for special needs, including churches, the nation, state, local government and first responders and families. The National Day of Prayer is an annual day of observance held on the first Thursday in May when people are asked to "turn to God in prayer and meditation".
