Poor mental health affects 20pc of van drivers

As signalled from the start of her premiership, she intends to provide mental health support in every school, with a member of staff trained in mental health first aid. There was a bill introduced in the House, that will address that very issue. The issues are: funding problems and a fairer funding formula across the country; teacher recruitment and retention, especially in disadvantaged areas; and the inevitable fallout from the Gove era reforms to exams, curriculum and accountability.

Mental Health Foundation CEO Jenny Edwards says exercise can play a big part in staving off depression.

Republicans insist their plan would save money for the federal government, but their inattention to mental health reminds us of the proverb about an ounce of prevention being worth a pound of cure.

But mental health issues tend to be less visible, so they are generally lower in the order of political priorities.

The theme of this year's Mental Health Awareness week, is "survive to thrive".

"Children and young people face a huge range of pressures - from exams to cyberbulling, from body image to finding a job when they finish education".

GETTYTwo in five of those surveyed believe they have experienced depression in their lives

James Harris, a spokesperson for the Mental Health Foundation, said: "Compared to the national average, these figures indicate that van drivers are experiencing an increased rate of poor mental health".

"It seems to be easier for people later in life to spend time doing the things that are good for mental health, and young people struggling under the life's pressures could take a leaf out of the book the older generation appears to be reading!" We need to educate ourselves about habits and behaviors that increase the risk of developing mental illnesses, or could be signs of mental health problems themselves. "We have made great strides in the health of our bodies, we now need to achieve the same for the health of our minds". If you or a loved one are in need of emergency help, a crisis line volunteer can be reached at any time at 937-393-9904.

Miss Edwards continued: "With two in three of us experiencing a mental health problem in our lives, we need to respond to this public health emergency with a Thriving Nation programme. Parents, carers and young people can receive direct support through CAMHS".

Intervention has always been a buzz term in mental health. We can help in many ways. It is also hard for schools to access these services.

Finally, regardless of how supportive the employer/colleagues would be in reality, the unfortunate fact is that a large number of employees are scared that owning up to a mental health issue may adversely impact their career, promotion or salary prospects, bonus or the like. That review is under way and is nearly certain to report later in the year that, given the increasing number of young people with mental health issues, CAMHS is under-resourced for the job it was established to carry out.
